A Wal-Mart cashier was arrested for giving her husband a discount of $91, and allegedly told managers that she did so because the company owed her money for breaking a watch she had brought in to have repaired.

Lowell and Karen Boyer of Paradis announce the engagement of their daughter, Lacy Anne Boyer, to Mark Donnell Griffith, son of Mark and Annette Griffith of Watson. For nearly three years, a group of employees at the Shell/Motiva Refinery in Norco has been putting the pedal to the metal to help fund multiple sclerosis research. Youth from around the parish joined NFL professional football player Ed Reed, who plays for the Baltimore Ravens, at Harry Hurst Middle School for his annual football camp.
The 11-man St. Charles Parish Race Club just wrapped up the second of five racing events for the Louisiana R/C Challenge 2009. Angelina Rome was born on Feb. 26, 2009 at West Jefferson Hospital. LA Crusher's went undefeated to win the ASA 28th Annual Louisiana Magic Fast Pitch Softball Tournament, May 30 and 31. The St. Charles Parish All-Star 10U girls took first place in the “West Side All-Star Warm-up Tournament" in Brusly on June 13 and 14. Nine LSU AgCenter educators recently won top honors for their home-buyer education program at the Louisiana Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences annual meeting. St. Rose Elementary School third grade students participated in an art contest held by Child Advocacy Services' local CASA program.

After a number of requests to the state have failed to elicit much response, Council President Terry Authement wants to initiate a task force to draw attention to the many problems motorists encounter while driving on U.S. 90.
